Advantages of migration to the I3C interface
- Multi-master support and multi-drop capability
- Dynamic addressing
- In-band interrupts
- Hot join support for new devices
Migrating to the I3C interface is a good option, but it also has some obstacles. The I3C devices need to work with each other because during the migration, some devices will support the I3C interface while others will continue to use the old I2C interface.
The MIPI Forum, which defined the I3C specification, has recently developed a standard for testing the interoperability of I3C devices.
