USB (Universal Serial Bus)

The first USB (Universal Serial Bus) Version 1.0 was invented in 1996 by a consortium of companies " Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft and NEC". They wanted to establish a standard for the connection of external devices with computers. External USB devices should be connected during operation and should automatically recognized by the computer. External devices should be powered via USB to overcome the need for an external power supply. Due to the fast and dynamic developement of external devices associated with the need for faster data transfer rates, in 2002 the USB2.0 and in 2008, the USB3.0 standards were enabled. Today, a steadily increasing number of device types, such as hard drives, DVD drives, printers, scanners, sticks, measurement equipment, cameras and of course computers using USB.
